Benefits of this retreat

Nervous System

Nature helps heal the nervous system by activating the parasympathetic "rest and digest" response, which slows heart rate, lowers cortisol, and deepens breathing. Reset your nervous system with regular extended stays in nature.

Stress Relief

Spending time in nature can lower cortisol levels, the body's primary stress hormone, and can also lower blood pressure. Step away from the busy day-to-day and give yourself time to rest, relax and recalibrate while all of your needs are cared for.

Calm the mind

Spending time in natures helps reduce rumination through its calming effects on the brain and by helping the body feel a sense of safety and regulate its stress response. Studies show that a walk in nature can decrease blood flow in the prefrontal cortex, the area of the brain associated with negative rumination.

Ignite your creativity

Modern urban environments bombard the brain with constant, demanding stimuli, leading to mental fatigue and burnout. Nature provides a restorative escape that recharges our mental batteries. Nature helps reignite creativity by restoring cognitive function, reducing stress, fostering a sense of awe, and activating the brain's "imagination network"

Why the New Moon?

Women historically gather on the new moon for ceremony, rituals, personal reflection, and community support, often to set intentions for the coming lunar cycle. These gatherings are seen as a way to connect with feminine energy, honor natural cycles, and foster a sense of sisterhood, which has ancient roots. These circles provide a sacred, supportive space for women to connect, share experiences, and empower one another.

Sacred native land

History of land

The Timucua people of North Florida where the indigenous inhabitants for hundreds of years and probably some of the first natives to see the Europeans. The Seminole Indians ended up occupying the Timucua’s area in Florida as they continued to fight off the colonizers. The Seminole Indians fought and by 1845 the wars were over the land was taken over by the European settlers. In Fort White, Florida the battle ended and the land was declared and divided up into sections by a few men. One of these men managed to pass the land down through his heirs into present day. This land has remained in a protected area and it is said that you can still feel the presence of the Timucua people's spirit and when you do fire ceremony the women from the Timucua tribe come out dressed in white to participate.

European settlers

The Timucua may have been the first natives to see the europeans arriving on the Coast of Florida back in the early 1500’s The Spanish colonizers discovered the Timucua and began to study their language. The Timucua introduced caffeinated tea and corn to the settlers. The Spanish introduced various fruits and vegetables to them. The Timucua were welcoming to the settlers and allowed them to take what they wanted as far as resources and land. They were a gentle tribe when it came to their interactions. Eventually the Spanish tried to convert them through their missionary and eventually the population went down from over 200,000 to just 50,000 in the 1600’s. By the 1800's the Seminole Indians where arriving and killing the last of any other tribes so they could take over the land and fight the white men.

Divine feminine

The Timucua tribes were centered around the divine feminine. They traced the family lineage through the women (matrilineal descent), and a chief's heirs were his nephews and nieces through his sister. Women could hold positions of authority, including chief. The men were primarily focused on hunting. The Timucua culture also included a third gender, known as Two-Spirits, who held specific social and spiritual roles. They performed demanding physical labor, acted as spiritual healers for the sick, and prepared the dead for burial.

Present day

In 2021 a piece of this land was purchased from the heirs of the original settlers. Until recently, the land has been in one family from 1865 to 2021. The land was never been clear cut, never built on, and was well preserved.

This sacred land is now part of a protected state park, called the Ichetucknee Wilderness. This land has an under ground river called Rose River plus a fresh water spring head that is connected with the Ichetucknee springs (Florida’s purest water!). You can enjoy this tucked away private retreat space!
